RV TIPS & TRICKS

Top 5 Campsites

RVers are spoiled for choice by the natural beauty of BC. Over the years we’ve happily stayed at great locations all through the province. Here are a few of our favourites that we know, love and recommend to our fellow campers and RVers.

HORSEFLY LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK (HORSEFLY LAKE)

Horsefly Lake is a large, deep lake that offers great fishing and ample space for water sports and activities. The 23 site campground, nestled in a coniferous forest at the west end of the lake, is very popular with RVers. A calm, inviting lake with a beach, horseshoe pit and nature trails, here you can hike, fish for rainbow trout or just take in the stunning views. There are also several excellent smaller lakes to explore nearby. At night the sky comes alive, exploding with stars and occasionally, the Northern Lights.

EMERALD BAY CAMPGROUND (GREEN LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK)

A not-so-hidden gem, Emerald Bay campground is just one of 11 sites at that make up Green Lake Provincial Park. The water is crystal clear, and perfect for enjoying a host of water activities. There is a covered picnic area, a playground and a sandy beach. It has beautiful views and trails that inspires hikers of all skill levels. Hike the attractive lightly-forested areas around the lake or get back to nature with a stop at the many wildlife viewing areas.

ROBERTS ROOST RV PARK (QUESNEL/DRAGON LAKE)

Roberts Roost on Dragon Lake has something for everyone. This park features hospitable camping spots, and hiking and biking trails. You can even enjoy a dining experience on the lake boat as it tours the waters. Kids have a spray park, playground, and an expanse of nature to enjoy. Friendly staff, clean, well-maintained facilities and a pet-friendly attitude ensure Roberts Roost is a great place to visit. There are even onsite clothing and gift stores, so you can take away a few memories of your trip.

TEN MILE LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK (TEN MILE LAKE)

There’s enough room to accommodate even the biggest of RVs at Ten Mile Lake, located 11km north of Quesnel. This Lakeside campground has 64 sites, including six double sites, while the Touring campground has an additional 46 sites. Tree-lined, shaded sites provide privacy and a sense of peaceful seclusion.

Aside from the lake itself, visitors can enjoy a large picnic area, playground, and three sandy beaches. For a true nature walk, follow the Beaver Pond trail, along abandoned railroad tracks, until your reach the beaver lodge and dams.

RETASKET LODGE & RV PARK (LILLOOET LAKE, SQUAMISH, SOUTH COAST-MOUNTAIN)

Just the drive to Lillooet is guaranteed to be a joy, with outstanding natural beauty and wildlife in the surrounding areas. Although it’s just an hour away from Vancouver, Lillooet Lake actually gets little rain, which means a dry climate that is joyfully mosquito-free. The campgrounds offer Wi-Fi, Cable TV and even laundry. But the best feature is having Lillooet at your doorstep and everything that offers. Go fishing, jet boating or lake swimming and discover the trails with a gentle horseback ride or invigorating hike.
