On the third evening of our camping trip, it poured all night. With no reason to get up early the next day, most of us slept until 10am. Brent and Addisyn snuck out early to try their hand at fishing again and came back a little wet when we were just waking up. Today was Rowan’s birthday and we celebrated with a pancake breakfast in the trailer.

The rain had finally stopped. After breakfast, we got ready and loaded up the car to head out for a day trip to War Falls. War Falls is about a 45 min drive away from our campground, on the way to Carp Lake Provincial Park. The sun had started to break through the clouds. It was turning out to be a perfect day for a family hike.

War Falls is a 3-tiered waterfall. It was so loud and powerful. I love waterfalls. You don’t have to walk down the trail for too long before you can hear the raging waters.

There was a cute little throne made from a tree stump, so of course I had to get pictures of the kids on it.

There are a lot of vantage points along the hike. As we made our way to the bottom of the trail, the water was getting so loud that we had to yell to be able to hear each other.

The kids thought the waterfall was so cool. The water was flowing a little too fast for us to feel comfortable wading in the water. On the way back up, I thought I’d try and race the kids on the stairs… Turns out, I underestimated the how many stairs there were and burned out quickly. It got a good laugh from the kids though!

We got back to our campsite in time to make a yummy lunch of hamburgers and fries.
